Dot NAME Domain Name Registrations

Launched in 2001, the .NAME universal top-level domain is the single TLD intended for personal sites only. These domain names can consist of personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other labels people are known by. Initially, just 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you planned to reserve john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already grabbed 3rd-level domains remained running.
